Breast Implants Definition - A breast implant is a prosthesis used to enlarge the size of a woman's breasts (known as breast augmentation, breast enlargement, mammoplasty enlargement, augmentation mammoplasty or the common slang term boob job) for cosmetic reasons; to reconstruct the breast. A manufactured, silicone, rubber sac which is filled with sterile saline or silicone gel may be used.

Breast Implant Recovery - Recovery time after breast augmentation surgery is different for everyone. However, you may expect to experience quite a bit of discomfort for a few days to a few weeks after the procedure. Size and placement of the breast implants will determine level of discomfort. For example, larger implants will cause more discomfort. Most important is that you continue to take prescribed medications, particularly antibiotics, to ward off infection. One of the leading causes of death in hospital is from infection. Be sure to keep your body strong after the procedures with plenty of rest, plenty of water and taking all of your prescribed medication. Exercise only as prescribed your surgeon.
Breast Implant Problems - Undergoing any surgical procedure may involve the risk of complications such as the effects of anesthesia, infection, swelling, redness, bleeding, and pain. In addition, there are potential complications specific to breast implants. These complications include: Deflation/Rupture, Capsular Contracture, Pain, Additional Surgeries, Dissatisfaction, Infection, Hematoma/Seroma, Changes in Nipple and Breast Sensation, Breast Feeding Issue, Calcium Deposits in the tissue around the Breast Implant, Connective Tissues Diseas, and others.
